Balances
Toast's Gift Card Balances report is a live snapshot of each card's current remaining balance, which is the value you import. It ignores date ranges, so export at the moment of cutover.
Codes
Toast gift card numbers are numeric and most fit Shopify's 8 to 20 character format, so they carry over. Any number longer than 20 digits cannot be preserved; those cards get fresh codes and you notify those customers.

The standard balances view masks card numbers. Use Toast's documented export for third-party use, which shows the full card numbers a migration needs. Select all columns before you download.
How the migration works
- 1Deactivate your gift cards in Toast so they cannot be redeemed on both platforms.
- 2In Toast Web, go to Reports, then Payments, then Gift Card Balances.
- 3If you have multiple locations, select all stores.
- 4Open Show/hide columns, select all fields, and click Update, then download. This third-party-use export includes the full card numbers.
- 5Import the file into BatchCard, mapping the full card number and the remaining balance.
