Do your numbers carry over?
Balances
Yes. You import each card's current remaining balance, not its original face value, so your gift card liability stays accurate.
Codes
Mostly. Codes carry over when they fit Shopify's 8 to 20 letters and numbers format. Most gift card numbers from these platforms already do.
The exceptions
Any code outside that format cannot be preserved. The code is flagged before any card is created, so you re-import that card without a code to get a new one and give that customer the new code.

Migrate from Square to Shopify
The cleanest migration. Square's 16-digit codes carry over unchanged, and the Detail CSV gives you the exact remaining balance to import.
