Migrate your gift cards to Shopify
Switching from Square, Toast, Lightspeed, or Clover? BatchCard imports your existing gift cards into Shopify with their codes and current balances. Here is the honest answer to the question every merchant asks first: do my numbers carry over?
Do your numbers carry over?
Balances
Yes. You import each card's current remaining balance, not its original face value, so your gift card liability stays accurate.
Codes
Mostly. Codes carry over when they fit Shopify's 8 to 20 letters and numbers format. Most gift card numbers from these platforms already do.
The exceptions
Any code outside that format cannot be preserved. Those cards get fresh codes in BatchCard, and you notify those customers of the new code.
Choose your platform
Each guide answers the code and balance question up front and walks you through the export.
Migrate from Square to Shopify
The cleanest migration. Square's 16-digit codes carry over unchanged, and the Detail CSV gives you the exact remaining balance to import.

Move Toast gift cards to Shopify. Use the third-party export to get full card numbers, then import current balances and codes.

Move Lightspeed gift cards to Shopify. X-Series exports cleanly; R-Series is more manual. Import balances and codes either way.

Move Clover gift cards to Shopify. The Outstanding Balance report has your data; exporting full card numbers may need a support request.
Learn moreOn another platform? The same rules apply: export the current remaining balances, deactivate the old cards first, and import into BatchCard. See the full migration docs.
